A FEW OF MY FAVORITES
Do you have a favorite scripture passage? I find a number of passages of scripture frequently come to mind as I take pleasure in life's joys as well as face life's trials and tribulations. Such words of reassurance and comfort can give solace, strength and courage to face the obstacles we each face in our daily lives. Here are some of the passages I come back to time and time again. I hope that they might speak to you these summer days as well.
With the greatest of Hope,
Rev. Jeff Palmer
> "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And a second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:34-39
> (God) has told you, O mortal, what is good and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
> Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into (God's) presence with singing. Psalm 100:1-2
> Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4
> Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing; but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:4-7
> Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
> Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1
> As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Ephesians 4:12-14
> But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Amos 5:24
